Rhys spent the initial portion of professional life as an international sports agent with global agency and consultancy business, Aspire Management. He represented over 50 professional football players and a handful of rugby players globally, sourcing and negotiating both playing contracts and endorsement deals.

More recently, Rhys has advised private equity and other managed funds, high net worth individuals, and family offices on investments in and acquisitions of sports properties, from football clubs to sports tech. He has performed pre- and post-investment analysis and provided regulatory and strategic advice to investors.  Rhys also connects sports clubs and financiers with opportunities such as receivables deals and loan arrangements.

Rhys has been the external advisor to sports governing bodies and competition organisers such as FIFA on a variety of projects.   He has made research and writing contributions on a range of international sports law issues with the Asser International Sports Law Centre. Some of his work can be found on the Asser International Sports Law Blog.

Rhys had a (mediocre) professional career in both rugby league and rugby union, playing in Australia, France and Italy. His most recent obsession is skiing and spending time in the mountains, having studied in Switzerland – an obsession only surpassed by a lifelong love for golf.
