Jon is uniquely placed to advise on both commercial and competition law matters, and regularly advises clients on antitrust-related matters that arise in the context of commercial contracts and tender processes. Jon acts on a broad range of complex commercial instructions, including in relation to major event bidding and hosting arrangements, big-ticket sponsorship agreements, and digital transformation projects.

Jon has significant experience advising a range of stakeholders in the sports industry on both commercial and competition law matters, and has acted for several of the largest governing bodies, rightsholders and international sports federations, including the England and Wales Cricket Board, European Athletics, the FIA, FIFA, the Lawn Tennis Association, the Rugby Football Union and Six Nations.
Jon has particular expertise advising clients on the competition law implications of their commercial operations, including in relation to structuring tender processes and media rights sales, collaborations between sports industry stakeholders, and competition law challenges against governing bodies.
Jon also advises on a range of commercial, IP and data matters, most notably in relation to major event bidding and hosting arrangements, big-ticket sponsorship agreements, and digital transformation projects.
Prior to joining Onside Law, Jon worked in the commercial and competition teams at Macfarlanes. He has completed the PG Diploma in Competition Law at King’s College London, has done a number of secondments in Brussels and speaks French.
Away from the office, Jon can be found with a racket in hand on one court or another, or typically enduring another Coventry City FC performance.
