Onside Law is pleased to have assisted long standing client Jude Bellingham on his €103m transfer from Borussia Dortmund to Real Madrid. Bellingham is widely regarded as one of the hottest properties in world football and his move to Madrid is likely to be one of the biggest transfers globally this year. The transfer ended much speculation that he might move to the Premier League.
Oliver Hunt, one of the firm’s founding partners, who advised Jude and his family on the move, was a member of the official party at the player’s unveiling in Madrid on Thursday in front of the world’s media. Oliver has said “it was a privilege to help Jude and his family on this incredible move and to work with Real Madrid once again”.
Mark Bellingham, Jude’s Father said “a massive thank you to Oliver Hunt who helped us sift through all the legal stuff and made the complicated simple along with the club’s lovely legal team.”
Onside Law’s involvement in the Bellingham deal, follows the firm and Oliver, advising Eden Hazard on his (€115m) move to Real Madrid in 2019. It means the firm is in the unique position of having now advised on the two largest transfers in Real Madrid’s history. To complete the set, Onside Law also advised Caroline Weir on her transfer to Real Madrid Femenino from Manchester City W.F.C last summer.
Oliver, who forms part of Team Bellingham, also advised Jude’s brother, Jobe Bellingham, on his transfer from Birmingham City to Sunderland this summer. Onside Law looks forward to continuing to assist the Bellingham family on a wide range of matters and wishes Jude every success at his new club.
