Alex leads Onside Law's employment practice in the UK and advises on the full range of employment law issues across sport. Prior to joining Onside Law in 2022, Alex was part of PwC’s employment law practice, providing in-house support and advising the firm’s external clients.
Alex is an experienced employment lawyer advising clients across sport on a mixture of contentious and non-contentious matters, with clients including athletes, coaches, clubs and governing bodies.

Alex regularly advises on high-profile contractual matters in sport, including the negotiation of playing contracts and appointment of coaching staff, whilst also providing ongoing support to clients on day-to-day employment and HR issues.
Alex also deals with more contentious employment issues, including complex terminations, disciplinary processes, investigations and non-competition restrictions. Where litigation is necessary or unavoidable, Alex acts for both employers and individuals on claims in the Employment Tribunal, having previously acted on claims relating to unfair dismissal, breach of contract, discrimination, harassment, unpaid wages and employment status.
Aside from employment work, Alex also advises on general commercial matters, particularly where there is a player or people element. He is part of the firm’s team that advises on player transfers in football, covering both the men’s and women’s games.
Alex has been quoted in various media outlets on employment law issues impacting sport, particularly those relating to player contracts in football.
